Around the turn of the millenium, the world's best figure skaters were forced to include higher jumps with more rotations in their programs to keep up with the competition. These jumps led to more wear on the skaters and their skates. Based on research of landing impact in figure skating, GRAF developed the F4000 concept. In the research it was found that incorporating more flexibility on the axis of the ankle joint of the boot has a positive effect on force distribution during landing, thereby reducing physical stress on the body and mitigating risk of injury. The horizontally split upper construction of the F4000 applies this finding, bringing a progressive impact absorption. The upper is made of genuine Italian leather, specifically developed for figure skating. An F4000 distinguishes itself not only by its outside look but also by its unique padding construction. Two layered padding pieces offer maximum ankle comfort. We were careful to hide any seams that could cause friction or irritation. Our five-piece Flex Contour tongue has a high comfort padding and a pleasant feeling microfiber lining. The middle strip of the tongue is made out of extra flexible material to allow for an easier flex with less force. We added a hook, so the tongue always stays in place. The GRAF UltraLight outsole makes the boot becomes more torque-resistant and stable. An F4000 will adapt smoothly to your feet like no other skate ever could.
